King Edward Record

King Edward & the BD's Band was one of Richmond, VA's favorite bands of the late 1960's. Several of the original members reformed the band in the late 1980's and still prove to be one of the states most popular bands. Those of you who may remember the BD’s and their record “BEG ME” back in the 60’s are sure to enjoy their latest releases “GOING TO THE BEACH” and “THEY SAY THE GIRLS CRAZY”. The BD’s will be sure to keep the music of the past four decades alive and well and are dedicated to preserving American music with the utmost professionalism. Most recently, a book title THE HEEEY BABY DAYS of BEACH MUSIC, written by Greg Haynes of Atlanta, GA was released in 2006. The book tells the stories and remembrances of a Southern Music Genre and its bands of the 1960’s. The BD’s are one of the groups featured in the book. The BD’s memorabilia are also featured in THE HEEEY BABY DAYS of BEACH MUSIC exhibit in the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in Macon, GA.

The BD’s have become known as one of Richmond’s premier party bands by not just playing the music you want to hear and dance to, but also by keeping the crowd involved. The BD’s are sure to bring excitement and surprises to any event or special occasion.

The BD’s are also known for performing with and backing many national and regional acts over the years. Groups such as The Showmen, Chuck Berry, and Rufus Thomas. They have also shared the stage with The Platters, The Drifters, The Embers, The Band of Oz, The Catalina’s and Delbert McClinton, just to name a few.
